How we calculate scores →About this gear
Heinrichs Weikamp’s Remote Slave Unit triggers a compatible remote strobe when its optical sensor detects another flash. Nikonos and Ikelite connection options are listed, and the unit needs no separate battery.
Consider before buying
It does not provide TTL exposure control. Preflash compatibility must be checked: the manufacturer says active preflashes must be suppressed. Sea & Sea YS-D1, YS-D2 and YS-D3 are explicitly excluded. The claimed range beyond 25 metres applies only under favourable conditions.
Our take
Choose RSU for an established off-camera strobe arrangement with a confirmed electrical and optical match. Ask the supplier to check the exact strobe against the connector requirements; a matching socket shape is insufficient. The Digital Adapter serves a different TTL purpose. Reef Photo confirms the RSU’s non-TTL operation, but supplies no independent overall rating.
