How we calculate scores →About this gear
The open-heel Viper 2 combines a channelled blade with an adjustable heel strap and quick-release buckles. It is the boot-wearing alternative to the full-foot Viper 2. Oceanic lists XS, S, regular and XL sizes, so checking the pocket against your actual boots is more useful than relying on shoe size alone.
Consider before buying
DIVEIN’s tester found the fin comfortable and travel-friendly but comparatively flexible, with lower flutter-kick thrust than some alternatives. Frog kicking worked better in that test. Those results are individual test observations, not a guarantee of how the fin will perform with your load and technique.
Our take
It is a reasonable candidate for buyers who prefer a softer blade and adjustable pocket. Try a stiffer alternative before buying if forceful kicking and heavier equipment are priorities. This assessment applies only to the open-heel model; the full-foot version has a separate page and no transferred test score.
