BCDs differ in where buoyancy sits, how the harness fits and how weights are released. Those differences are more useful than a single lift number. This list compares jacket, back-inflate and harness-and-wing packages already covered in our research. A high-lift rescue model is included as a specialist option, not as an automatic upgrade for recreational diving.

How we chose and ordered these picks
General-purpose configurations lead, followed by specific fit and specialist options. Each model must still match the diver, cylinder and weighting plan.
List position is an editorial recommendation, not a review score. The selection uses the documented features and limitations below. We have not personally tested this equipment. Verified publisher scores, where available, are shown separately and link to their evidence. Our catalogue is still being researched; inclusion does not mean a product has a completed scored review.

The Ranger is a substantial back-inflate BCD with a 44 lb bladder and 1050-denier nylon outer construction. Separate torso, chest and waist fitting, a front Ripcord weight system and rear trim pockets give it more adjustment and carrying capacity than the Scout. Zeagle lists its dry weight at 8.4 lb.

What to check
That weight and structure take space in luggage. Twin-cylinder mounting requires the correct approved components and setup; mounting grommets alone do not make a complete twinset configuration. Try the harness and practise its release system under appropriate instruction before choosing it over a familiar jacket.

The Stiletto sits between the pared-back Scout and the heavier Ranger. It combines a 35 lb back-inflate bladder with a lumbar pad, adjustable fit system, two zippered pockets and five D-rings. Zeagle lists 24 lb of front Ripcord weight capacity, 16 lb of trim capacity and a 7.4 lb dry weight.

What to check
It still occupies more luggage space than equipment designed around minimal travel weight. Check access to the pockets while wearing your suit and carrying a cylinder; having two pockets does not establish how useful their space is for your accessories. Confirm the harness size rather than choosing by lift alone.

The Fury is a back-inflate BCD aimed at divers changing between different exposure suits. Its two adjustable size ranges and modular waist allow more fitting changes than a fixed-size jacket. Buyers can select a QLR pocket release or Ripcord weight system; these are different configurations, so check the actual unit being ordered.

What to check
Zeagle lists 26 or 33 lb of lift depending on the model. The source also mixes 1000- and 1050-denier fabric descriptions, while published material differs over twin-cylinder use. Confirm the selected version and approved cylinder setup rather than treating every Fury as interchangeable.

The Zena is a back-inflate BCD with separate waist and hip adjustment and a front-panel closure. Zeagle’s Personal Fit System allows chest, waist and torso sizing to be considered separately. Its 31 lb bladder and listed 6.2 lb dry weight make it a different proposition from the heavier Ranger models.

What to check
Try the harness with your actual exposure suit, paying attention to the front panel and how the independent straps sit at the hips. The women’s-fit positioning is not a guarantee of fit. Confirm panel sizing and whether an optional coloured panel is included before ordering.

The Scout pares the back-inflate format down to a 24 lb bladder, two utility pockets and four D-rings. It uses a low-profile bladder retractor and Zeagle’s adjustable fit system. At a listed 6.7 lb dry, it is lighter than the Ranger but still has the structure and storage of a conventional BCD.

What to check
The published 16 lb rear weight capacity should not be mistaken for a Ranger-style front Ripcord system. Check how you will carry and release the weights required by your configuration. Lift requirements also need to be assessed for the actual cylinder and exposure protection.

The IQ Lite CB package combines OMS’s cummerbund harness, Performance Mono wing and vertical weight system. It offers the open front of a wing with padded straps and familiar adjustment buckles. The current package lists two cam bands, assembly screws and a choice of 27 or 32 lb wing.

Mike Ward’s 2018 DIVER review scored the Cummerbund Signature package 9/10 with the 32 lb / 14.5 kg wing. He liked its stability but wanted a right-side dump and found the lower dump abrupt. The score shown here refers to that tested configuration, not the separate 2019 harness package or a new test of current production.

The Ranger LTD adds accessory mounting options and additional attachment points to the Ranger concept. It retains a 44 lb back-inflate bladder, 1050-denier construction and adjustable fit system, while the listed dry weight rises to 9.5 lb. What to check
The manufacturer page pairs a 36 lb weight figure with 13.6 kg, which is not an equivalent conversion. Confirm the applicable main weight capacity with Zeagle rather than relying on that inconsistent table. Twin-cylinder use needs additional approved attachment components.

A specialist back-inflate BCD for organised search-and-rescue work. The SAR combines a lifting harness and saddle strap with a 65 lb bladder, reflective details and separate main and trim weight storage. What to check
The harness is a reason to investigate this model with a rescue team, not permission to improvise lifting procedures. Confirm approved lifting arrangements, cylinder configuration and team requirements with Zeagle. Its substantial capacity is unnecessary for many recreational single-cylinder setups.

Before you buy
Try the BCD with the exposure suit you use most.
Check the release system with your buddy and account for fixed and ditchable weight.
Verify whether an inflator and ballast pockets are included in the selected package.
Take two or three suitable models from this list into a comparison, then remove any that fail your fit or compatibility checks. A lower position here can still be the better purchase for your setup. Check the product page for source dates and unresolved details before placing an order.
Is more lift always better?
No. Lift must suit the complete equipment and dive plan. Extra capacity does not compensate for poor fit or an unsuitable cylinder configuration.
