How we calculate scores →About this gear
Fourth Element’s 3mm Hood has a short collar, a smooth Glideskin interior and small air-vent holes. The short collar is intended to work with either wet or dry suits, making it useful when a long bib would interfere with your preferred neck arrangement.
Consider before buying
Its stretch material still needs a snug, comfortable fit around the face. The manufacturer’s venting claim does not make this a dry hood. This is the neoprene HOO3, not the separately named Surface Hood made from a different material.
Our take
Shortlist it when you want a compact collar and a thin hood that is easy to integrate with your current suit. Compare BARE’s 3mm S-Flex on head-and-neck fit. Published customer stars and a retailer demonstration do not supply an independently scored field test of HOO3.
