Consider before buying
The DLM port is a separate purchase, selected for the actual lens and required gear. TTL support is limited to the specified Ikelite combinations; other strobe brands operate manually. The listed control exclusions include directional multi-controller use, diopter adjustment, depth-of-field preview and focus-mode switching. Do not mistake the similarly named R8 housing for an interchangeable body.
Our take
Choose this package if the R7 is your committed camera and its lens fits the DLM system. Owners of older electrical DS strobes need to price the required receiver as well as the fibre cable. Earlier R7 housing appearances in strobe reviews establish neither a score nor a test of this newer optical version. Check the FBR model code on any dealer quotation.
