How we calculate scores →About this gear
A compact, round dive computer with a 1.3-inch AMOLED display and four-button operation. Its air, nitrox, three-gas nitrox, gauge and freediving modes sit alongside vibration alerts and a rechargeable battery. Quick-release straps include a shorter option.
Consider before buying
The standard Tern does not include wireless air integration or a digital compass. Compare with Tern TX if those are priorities; try the compact display in person to assess readability.
Our take
Tern makes sense as a model to compare if you want a compact recreational computer and do not need tank pressure or a compass on the wrist. Those omissions are the main reason to look at Tern TX instead. The 1.3-inch screen and four-button layout deserve an in-person check: a smaller case is only an advantage if the information remains comfortable to read. Compare the larger Peregrine if display area matters more than a watch-shaped body. Wireless charging is convenient only if you can bring and use the correct charging equipment on your trip. The source does not support treating Tern as a general sports smartwatch or a substitute for the technical modes of other models. Published narrative review evidence is linked below, but we have not verified an eligible numeric overall rating; there is no defensible score to display yet.

DIVEIN likes the clear screen and easy menus. It distinguishes the TX model’s air integration and compass from the standard Tern, and flags the lack of audible alarms.
