How we calculate scores →About this gear
The MicroFix PLB-300 is ACR’s discontinued product 2898, with a 16-channel GPS receiver, 406 MHz distress transmission and a 121.5 MHz homing signal. Its antenna stows around the body.
Consider before buying
Aviation Consumer’s accessible 2008 assessment describes the protected activation button and simple controls; the remainder is subscriber-only. That historical coverage says little about the condition of a particular used unit today.
Our take
For a fresh equipment purchase, we prefer a current ResQLink. An existing MicroFix needs its battery date, registration and service support checked rather than a recommendation based on its original specification alone.
