The original ResQLink View adds an LCD to ACR’s compact, buoyant personal beacon format. The display shows coordinates and operating information, backed by GPS/Galileo positioning, satellite distress transmission and visible/infrared strobes.
Consider before buying
This is the PLB-425, not the later View RLS: it does not provide Return Link Service confirmation. OutdoorGearLab’s 61/100 includes everyday messaging in its comparison criteria, so read that score in the context of an emergency-only beacon.
Our take
We would pick it over the 400 when readable status information is worth the extra cost. For a new purchase, compare the View RLS before deciding: receipt confirmation is a meaningful feature beyond a screen. Neither model is a two-way chat device.
