How we calculate scores →About this gear
The original Hydra 3000 is a discontinued multicolour video light. Kraken’s table lists a 3000-lumen flood, adjustable colour modes, CRI 85 and a nominal 50-minute full-power runtime. Its single push-button controls differ from the dial arrangement advertised for the replacement Hydra 3000 V2.
Consider before buying
The same page describes the spot as 2000 lumens in its body and 1800 in the table. Spot also disappears from part of the mode list. Confirm the exact unit and available functions if buying remaining or used stock. Do not use V2 reviews to fill those gaps.
Our take
The case for this model is a well-priced existing unit with a healthy battery and the colour functions you need. A discontinued light becomes less attractive if replacement batteries, seals or service are difficult to obtain. Ask for a demonstration of every mode and a runtime check before a used purchase. For current alternatives, the Hydra 5000 adds dial control and higher stated white output; the LTD 3000 keeps a simpler white flood/spot arrangement. No verified overall score was found for this original generation.
