91/100Our editorial score

Our versatile pick when the same light needs a broad flood and a separate spot beam.

Before you buy: The extra modes are useful only if you need them; a flood-only head is simpler.

LED STINGRAY MARK II VIDEO SET

LED STINGRAY MARK II VIDEO SET

The Video Set contains two Stingray Video Mark II lights, flexible mounting arms and a camera tray. The detailed manufacturer specification gives 1300 lumens and a broad 120° beam per light. Each uses a USB-C rechargeable 21700 battery, with approximately two hours of claimed operation. This is a camera-lighting package, distinct from the focused spot-light sets.

Check before buying: A camera is shown in the official photograph but is not included. The listed package also contains two batteries, a pouch, charger, USB-C cable and plastic case. Check the tray mounting and arm reach against your housing. Do not treat a spotlight review or an older 18650 Video Set as a test of this current pair.

hw Video

hw Video

The hw Video is a wide-angle underwater video light built around a POM and aluminium housing. Its 170° beam and protected rotary control suit broad scene illumination rather than a tight signalling spot. The manufacturer distinguishes the LED’s nominal 8500 lumens from at least 5500 lumens measured from the light in an integrating sphere.

Check before buying: The current runtime table lists four settings from 20 to 80 W, although the LED and promotional text refer to 85 W. Treat 45 minutes at the top setting and four hours at 20 W as manufacturer estimates. At 1.1 kg in air, the light adds substantial travel weight even though it is described as nearly neutral in fresh water.

Abyss 10000

Abyss 10000

The Abyss 10000 offers white flood, triggered LED burst and SOS modes without the Hydra range’s creative colour channels. Kraken lists 10000 lumens continuous, 12000 burst, a 120° beam and CRI 90. Its push-button dial provides 11 output levels.

Check before buying: Full-power runtime is 35 minutes in the table; the approximately 60-minute claim applies to 80% power. Weight also conflicts within the page: 730/340 g land/underwater in the description versus 740/365 g in the table. Confirm the version before calculating exact rig buoyancy.

Abyss 20,000

Abyss 20,000

The Abyss 20000 is a large white video light with a claimed 20000-lumen continuous flood and 25000-lumen LED burst. Its 120° beam, CRI 90 and 5600K colour temperature target wide-angle camera work. White, burst and SOS are the listed modes; it does not offer the Hydra range’s colour channels.

Check before buying: The 1400 g land weight and 565 g underwater weight include the battery. Two lights therefore add 2.8 kg before arms, clamps and chargers. Kraken lists 40 minutes at maximum flood, which needs to fit the intended recording schedule.

Abyss 6000

Abyss 6000

The Abyss 6000 is a white-light alternative to the multicolour Hydra range. Its specified 6000-lumen flood, 120° beam and CRI 90 suit nearby video subjects. A dial with an integrated button adjusts output through 11 levels; a triggered LED burst reaches a claimed 7000 lumens.

Check before buying: The key compromise is runtime: Kraken lists 30 minutes at full power or 45 minutes at 80%. It does not include separate red, blue or UV channels. The burst feature should not be bought on the assumption that it freezes movement like a dedicated strobe.

Hydra 12,000

Hydra 12,000

The Hydra 12000’s normal white output is 10000 lumens. Its 12000-lumen figure applies to Turbo or triggered burst, so the product name should not be read as the standard setting. A 120° beam, CRI 90, 5600K white and separate colour channels make it a versatile video-light option.

Check before buying: Kraken lists 60 minutes at normal output and 40 minutes at 120% Turbo. Its 1035 g land weight and 450 g underwater weight are meaningful additions to a compact camera system. Confirm remote compatibility for the exact light revision before buying an RC02.

Hydra 1800+WSR

Hydra 1800+WSR

The Hydra 1800+WSR combines an 1800-lumen flood, a 1500-lumen spot and red mode in a compact 205 g light. Its auto flash-off function briefly interrupts continuous illumination when a strobe fires, making it relevant to macro photographers using a separate flash.

Check before buying: Flash-off is a focus-light aid, not a guarantee of correct exposure. Check its response with your own trigger and camera settings. Kraken lists 80 minutes at full flood and USB-C charging for the 21700 battery. It is a modest video light compared with the larger Abyss models.

Hydra 2200 WSR

Hydra 2200 WSR

The Hydra 2200 WSR is a compact camera light with wide, spot and red modes. Kraken lists 2200 lumens in both white beam settings: 110° wide and 20° spot. It weighs a claimed 205 g on land and includes a YS mount, making it an option for a small photographic setup.

Check before buying: Its listed runtime is 60 minutes at full flood, with a 4.5-hour recharge from empty. Three output levels provide less fine adjustment than the dial-controlled Hydra 5000. The wide and spot modes have different listed colour temperatures, 5000K and 6500K respectively.

Hydra 3000

Hydra 3000

The original Hydra 3000 is a discontinued multicolour video light. Kraken’s table lists a 3000-lumen flood, adjustable colour modes, CRI 85 and a nominal 50-minute full-power runtime. Its single push-button controls differ from the dial arrangement advertised for the replacement Hydra 3000 V2.

Check before buying: The same page describes the spot as 2000 lumens in its body and 1800 in the table. Spot also disappears from part of the mode list. Confirm the exact unit and available functions if buying remaining or used stock. Do not use V2 reviews to fill those gaps.

Hydra 5000

Hydra 5000

This current Hydra 5000 uses a push-button dial, 5000-lumen white output and red, green, blue and UV channels. Kraken specifies 6000 lumens in burst mode, 120° white coverage and CRI 90 at 5600K. It is not the older two-button Hydra 5000 or 5000+ found in many reviews.

Check before buying: The main table gives 35 minutes at full power and dimensions of 58.5 × 157 mm, but another paragraph says 60 minutes and 79 × 175 mm. Confirm the current battery and dimensions with Kraken. Older-model runtime tests do not resolve this conflict.

Hydra 6000 V2

Hydra 6000 V2

Hydra 6000 V2 is a discontinued Kraken colour-capable video light with a 100° underwater flood beam, RGB/UV modes and remote-control support. Its three-button controls and fibre-optic connection serve camera lighting rather than a narrow navigation beam. Kraken lists 690 g on land and 290 g underwater.

Check before buying: Output claims conflict: the current manufacturer page says 4000-lumen flood and 6000 boost, while the V2 manual hosted by Backscatter says 5000 constant and 6000 burst. Some dealer coverage quotes 6000/8000 instead. Confirm the actual unit’s manual and firmware; do not buy on the model number alone.

Hydra 8000 V2

Hydra 8000 V2

The Hydra 8000 V2 is discontinued and uses three buttons with a battery-level indicator. Kraken’s current page specifies 6000-lumen flood and 8000-lumen boost, with a 100° underwater beam and WRGBU colour modes. It lists 60 minutes in normal flood and 40 minutes at the higher setting.

Check before buying: Dealer listings sometimes give 8000 constant and 10000 burst for this same name, conflicting with the current official page. Confirm the actual unit and manual before buying. A WaterPixels shooting report names the 8000 V2, but does not test or score its maximum output.

LTD 12,000

LTD 12,000

The LTD 12000 pairs a powerful white flood with a separate 1800-lumen spot. Unlike the multicolour Hydra line, its principal functions are broad video lighting and a narrower beam for looking into small areas. Kraken’s current page lists CRI 90, 5600K and 35 minutes at full flood.

Check before buying: The current manufacturer page gives a 120° flood, while older dealer listings describe 100°. Some listings also attach WRGBUV wording to a model Kraken describes as white flood/spot. Confirm the exact revision, beam and included charger rather than relying on a dealer title.

LTD 3000

LTD 3000

The LTD 3000 combines a 3000-lumen flood with a 2000-lumen spot in one rechargeable light. The 100° flood is intended for close video coverage, while switching to spot concentrates the beam. It uses a single push button and a 26650 battery with USB-C charging.

Check before buying: Its nominal full-flood runtime is 50 minutes. The manufacturer page lists CRI 85 in its description but 82 in the table, and gives two land weights, 385 g and 403 g. Those differences remain unresolved; do not choose it on an assumed colour-rendering or weight advantage.

Snoot Light V2

Snoot Light V2

The Snoot Light V2 is a self-contained macro light for illuminating a small subject while leaving much of the background dark. Kraken specifies a 15 mm beam diameter at a 100 mm underwater working distance and five output settings. It is a dedicated light, not a snoot attachment that needs a separate strobe.

Check before buying: The official page contradicts itself on dimensions: 54.5 × 162 mm in its description versus 38 × 180 mm in its table. Its output figures use different measures and should not be compared directly with a video light’s lumen rating. Confirm the supplied version, battery and runtime before ordering.

Spectrum 10,000

The Spectrum 10000 is a specialised ambient-blue video light. Its colour temperature is fixed at 16000K, unlike the selectable settings on the Spectrum 18000. Kraken specifies 10000 lumens continuous, 12000 burst and a 120° beam with 11 brightness levels.

Check before buying: Fixed blue output is a significant buying constraint. It is intended for a particular blue-water lighting approach, not as a general daylight-colour flood. The listed runtime is 35 minutes at full power or 60 minutes at 80%. The official product page currently provides a placeholder instead of a model photograph.

Spectrum 18000 Underwater Video Light

Spectrum 18000 Underwater Video Light

The Spectrum 18000 is a wide-beam video light with three selectable colour temperatures: 5600K, 8000K and a blue-shifted 16000K setting. Kraken lists 18000 lumens, 120° underwater coverage and stepless brightness adjustment. At 990 g including its battery, it is a substantial camera light rather than a pocket torch.

Check before buying: Full-output runtime is listed as 35 minutes, rising to 50 minutes at 80%. Plan recording time around that limit. Its 470 g underwater weight needs to be included in camera-rig buoyancy planning. The optional RC02 remote is an additional purchase.

OrcaTorch

D910V

D910V

The D910V is a camera light with a broad 120° beam, three output settings and a magnetic charger. OrcaTorch lists 5000 lumens, 5700 K colour temperature and CRI 92. The supplied ball joint lets it attach to a camera arm, while the charge indicator helps monitor its integrated battery pack.

Check before buying: Full-power runtime is listed at 50 minutes. Photographer Fiona Ayerst reported running out during the second of two 30-minute dives at high power, making charging access a practical concern. Her review was requested by Scubascene and gives no overall numeric score. A wide video beam also behaves differently from a tight signalling spot.

Sea Dragon 2300F Light Head

Sea Dragon 2300F Light Head

Sea Dragon 2300F SL6821 is a flood light supplied with a rechargeable battery and charging equipment, but without a camera tray or grip. SeaLife specifies 2,300 lumens, 5000 K colour temperature and an 80 CRI.

Check before buying: The published beam is 120 degrees in air and 90 degrees underwater. The same official page claims both 60 and 80 minutes at full power, so endurance needs clarification. A review of the older 2300 Auto does not establish this 2300F model’s performance.

Sea Dragon 2300F Photo-Video Light

Sea Dragon 2300F Photo-Video Light

The Sea Dragon 2300F supplies a wide continuous beam for underwater photos and video. The SL682 version includes a compact tray and grip; the SL682S package uses a longer single tray. It is not the older 2300 Auto light.

Check before buying: The manufacturer specifies 80 minutes at full output and three brightness levels. Those figures describe the light, not how far it will illuminate a reef. Check the package suffix and current depth specification with the supplier because older listings and the newer shared manual differ.

Sea Dragon 2500F

Sea Dragon 2500F

The 2500F is a broad photo and video light supplied with a Flex-Connect single tray, grip and case. SeaLife specifies 2500 lumens, a 90° underwater beam and CRI 90 at 5000 K. A separate head-only version suits photographers who already own compatible mounting parts.

Check before buying: The advertised 120° beam is measured in air; use the 90° underwater figure when considering coverage. Full-power endurance is listed at 60 minutes, increasing at reduced brightness. Check the SL671 kit against SL6712 head-only pricing, and remember that a broad flood is a different tool from a narrow handheld spot.

Sea Dragon 2500F SL6712 is the light-head package with a 25 Wh rechargeable battery and charger, omitting the tray, grip and case of the SL671 kit. It offers three output levels and a published 90-degree underwater flood beam.

Check before buying: Its quoted 120-degree beam is the in-air figure. SeaLife specifies 60 minutes at full power and 365 g with the battery; those are manufacturer figures. The head needs a suitable mount, and its flood beam is different from a narrow search beam.

Sea Dragon 3000F Auto

Sea Dragon 3000F Auto

The 3000F Auto adds automatic brightness control to a broad camera light. Its sensor adjusts output between 300 and 3000 lumens, while manual operation offers full, half and quarter power. Flash detection can briefly switch the light off when an external flash fires; that function can also be disabled.

Check before buying: Automatic adjustment is useful only if its response suits the shot, so retain manual control for consistent lighting between clips. The red-light mode is an option for the photographer, not proof that wildlife is unaffected. This is the older Auto model, distinct from the similarly named 3000F Color Boost.

Sea Dragon 3000F Color Boost™ Photo-Video Light

This Sea Dragon 3000F Color Boost package includes the light, Flex-Connect grip and tray for a camera with a standard quarter-inch tripod socket. SeaLife’s official feed identifies SKU SL681, a 3000-lumen COB light with CRI 90, a removable 3400mAh battery and 60-minute full-power runtime.

Check before buying: Do not confuse this kit with the SL6811 light-head-only listing or the older 3000F Auto. The official feed specifies stepless 300–3000-lumen adjustment and a 3900K Color Boost setting; older coverage says 3700K. Confirm the exact revision if matching a second light.

Sea Dragon 3000F Color Boost SL6811 adds a brightness dial and a warmer red-and-white mode to its white flood light. The package includes a 25 Wh rechargeable battery and charging equipment, with the tray and grip sold separately.

Check before buying: SeaLife lists 3,000 lumens in white and 3,300 in Color Boost, with a 90-degree underwater beam. Its page conflicts on the boosted colour temperature, stating both 3700 K and 3900 K. It also says Color Boost reduces runtime by approximately 20%.

Sea Dragon 5000+ with Color Boost

Sea Dragon 5000+ with Color Boost

The Sea Dragon 5000+ is a continuous photo-video light with a warmer Color Boost setting. Normal output is 5,000 lumens; its 6,000-lumen setting is a temporary two-minute boost. It is most relevant to photographers working close enough for artificial light to affect the subject.

Check before buying: DivePhotoGuide’s field review found the advanced button modes harder to track and noted the limits of illuminating larger wide-angle subjects. The publisher received equipment from SeaLife. The article contains useful field observations but no numeric overall rating.

Sea Dragon Duo 10K+ Color Boost Set

Sea Dragon Duo 10K+ Color Boost Set

The Duo 10K+ Color Boost Set puts two Sea Dragon 5000+ heads on an Ultra Dual Tray with grips. Its nominal 10,000-lumen total comes from both lights at their normal maximum output. The camera is separate.

Check before buying: The two 6,000-lumen burst modes do not create a continuous 12,000-lumen system. Likewise, two 120-degree beams do not automatically provide 240-degree coverage: light positioning and overlap matter. The individual-light field review is not a numeric overall review of this kit.

Check before buying: Each light has its own output and battery requirements. The combined lumen figure does not mean twice the usable reach, and a review of the later 5000F Auto is a different product. The older kit specification lists a 60 m depth rating.

Sea Dragon Fluoro-Dual Beam

Sea Dragon Fluoro-Dual Beam

The Sea Dragon Fluoro-Dual Beam is a specialist fluorescence light. Its blue excitation output and supplied barrier filters serve a different purpose from normal white-light colour photography. The set includes a grip and single tray.

Check before buying: The camera barrier filter is listed for lenses up to 47 mm diameter, so it is not a universal fit for large ports. Full runtime and depth specifications were not established from the accessible exact-model evidence. White-light performance should not be inferred from its fluorescence function.

Sea Dragon Pro Dual Beam

The Pro Dual Beam combines a 3000-lumen flood with a 1500-lumen spot and a red-light mode. The package includes a Flex-Connect tray and grip, GoPro adapter, battery, charger and travel case. Switching beam types gives it a different role from SeaLife’s flood-only camera lights.

Check before buying: The flood has three output settings and the spot has two. The 3400 mAh battery is rated for 60 minutes at the full flood setting; that figure should not be applied to every mode. A combined light still requires suitable positioning for a camera and should not be mistaken for two independent lights.

Sea Dragon Pro Dual Beam SL6791 combines a 3,000-lumen flood with a 1,500-lumen spot and a red mode. The head package includes the battery and charger, while mounting hardware is purchased separately.

Check before buying: The flood covers a published 90 degrees underwater and the spot about 11 degrees. Their colour specifications differ: 5000 K / CRI 90 for flood and 6000 K / CRI 70 for spot. Switching beams therefore changes more than coverage.
