How we calculate scores →About this gear
The KR-S80+ is an 80 Ws manual underwater strobe built around a straight flash tube. Its directed coverage suits snooted macro work: Kraken lists more than 60° without a diffuser and 100° with one. It also contains a 3000-lumen video light with a narrower 50° beam.
Consider before buying
The plus sign does not mean more flash energy than the original S80. Both are 80 Ws, but their tube geometry and coverage differ. There is no TTL exposure automation. Budget for a compatible optical cable and, if required, the separately purchased KR-SN07 snoot.
Our take
Buy the S80+ when concentrated lighting is central to your photography. Six manual settings make exposure repeatable, but you must adjust power yourself as distance and aperture change. The listed one-second recycle and approximately 800 full-power flashes are manufacturer figures, not our test results. For broad scenes, compare the original circular-tube S80 before choosing this model. Its wider native flash is a different tool, and published S80 review findings cannot establish an S80+ score.
