How we calculate scores →About this gear
Hydra 6000 V2 is a discontinued Kraken colour-capable video light with a 100° underwater flood beam, RGB/UV modes and remote-control support. Its three-button controls and fibre-optic connection serve camera lighting rather than a narrow navigation beam. Kraken lists 690 g on land and 290 g underwater.
Consider before buying
Output claims conflict: the current manufacturer page says 4000-lumen flood and 6000 boost, while the V2 manual hosted by Backscatter says 5000 constant and 6000 burst. Some dealer coverage quotes 6000/8000 instead. Confirm the actual unit’s manual and firmware; do not buy on the model number alone.
Our take
For an existing unit, assess battery support and the required mounts before investing further. For a new purchase, Kraken recommends Hydra 5000 or Abyss 6000 according to colour-mode needs. Earlier Hydra 4000/6000 reviews do not resolve the V2 mismatch, and no eligible V2 overall rating was verified.

Review evidence and source documents
Published findings and supporting documents, with each source identified below. We have not personally tested this product.
This V2 manual states 5000 lumens constant and 6000 burst, whereas Kraken’s current product page states 4000 flood and 6000 boost. The disagreement remains unresolved. The manual identifies a USB-C rechargeable battery pack and 100° underwater beam; it provides no review rating.
