How we calculate scores →About this gear
The Spectrum 18000 is a wide-beam video light with three selectable colour temperatures: 5600K, 8000K and a blue-shifted 16000K setting. Kraken lists 18000 lumens, 120° underwater coverage and stepless brightness adjustment. At 990 g including its battery, it is a substantial camera light rather than a pocket torch.
Consider before buying
Full-output runtime is listed as 35 minutes, rising to 50 minutes at 80%. Plan recording time around that limit. Its 470 g underwater weight needs to be included in camera-rig buoyancy planning. The optional RC02 remote is an additional purchase.
Our take
The reason to choose this model is the ability to change light colour as well as output. That gives more flexibility than the fixed-blue Spectrum 10000 when moving between nearby subjects and blue-water scenes. It does not automatically correct camera white balance or remove backscatter. The Abyss 20000 is worth comparing if daylight-colour flood lighting is all you need; it has higher stated output but also more mass. No exact-model independent overall rating was found for the Spectrum 18000.
